ACTS-SDT offers Steel Plate Shear Wall (SPSW) is a lateral-force-resisting system composed of thin steel infill plates, boundary columns, and horizontal beams. The steel plates act as the main energy-dissipating components by developing tension-field action after buckling under lateral loads such as earthquakes or wind. This mechanism allows the SPSW to exhibit high strength, stiffness, and ductility.
The boundary frame (beams and columns) provides confinement and stability to the infill plates, ensuring that the tension-field mechanism can form effectively. SPSWs can be designed as either unstiffened or stiffened, depending on performance requirements.
Due to their excellent seismic performance, light weight, and ease of construction, SPSWs are widely applied in high-rise buildings, retrofit projects, and structures requiring both stiffness and energy dissipation capacity.
